Gerri Penn, also known as Geraldine Penn, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 74 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was born on May 1, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana, to Alberta and Jerry Bear Washington.
Gerri was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her children and grandchildren. Gerri's nurturing spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Washington, and a host of grandchildren, including India Taylor, Angel Robinson, Kenneth Hughes, Keisha and Shannon Huddleston, Alexis Williams, and Christopher Norwood. Gerri is also survived by her siblings, Ella Washington, Mary-Ruth Coleman, Annette Washington, Rose Washington, Robert Washington, and Halem Washington. Gerri completed her high school education through Adult Education on June 5th, 1989.
Throughout her career, Gerri worked at Bosch, Williams Brothers, and retired from Whirlpool in 2010. Even after retirement, Gerri picked up another job at Universal Industry, showcasing her strong work ethic.
Gerri was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, where she worshipped and found solace. Outside of work and church, Gerri enjoyed various hobbies, including bowling, fishing, and cooking. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity.
Gerri's legacy of love and dedication will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her loved ones. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
