Fred Douglas Turner Jr.

Fred Douglas Turner Jr., 76, of Detroit, MI entered into God’s kingdom on August 17, 2023. He was born December 12, 1946, in Kansas City, MO to Willie Mae & Fred Turner Sr.  He peacefully transitioned his life on August 17, 2023, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. 

Fred attended school in Kansas City, MO. He worked the majority of his life for Kansas City Public Works and later retired as a forklift operator in Detroit, MI.  He enjoyed cooking and being close to his family. Although Fred never married and had no biological children. He leaves behind the love of his life Delores Cook and her beloved children (Ronald, Minnie, and Sheila) who called him “Papa”.

Fred was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.

Fred is the second oldest of 14 children. He leaves his legacy in the hearts of his surviving siblings Sisters: Gladys, Geneva, and Georgeann (IL), and Ida, brothers: Archie, Lugene (Mississippi), Spencer, and Sunny as well as a host of nieces and nephews.  

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Turner, and Willie Mae, two sisters Edna and Shelly, and three brothers Augustus, Cleo, and Willie Ed.
