Fred Price Obituary

Fred D. Price had his sunrise on November 11, 1942, in Holly Bluff, Mississippi to the union of Lela Mae Courtney and Henry Price. Fred was one of seven children, filling their home with love.  Fred’s sunset was July 9, 2020.

As a young man, Fred moved from his childhood home to set his sights on the Big Apple.  He settled in Rochester, New York, where he would find and marry the love of his life, Earnestine Price (Johnson). While in New York, two of their three sons were born, Frederick, and Herb Price.

The Price family moved to Michigan after a decade in New York and settled in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Fred was employed at Michigan Standard Alloys for over 22 years before retiring.  While in Benton Harbor, the family grew with the addition of a third son, Jerry, and a little lady, Katrina.

Fred enjoyed his life in Benton Harbor where he had scores of friends and family in the area. It was not uncommon to find him sitting on his front porch waving and smiling, spreading joy in the neighborhood. The Price home was a gathering place and was always filled with love and laughter.

Fred leaves to lovingly cherish his memory, his wife,  Earnestine; his children, Frederick, Houston Texas, Herb (Sheree), Lansing, Michigan; Jerry (Sherri), Benton Harbor, Michigan, and daughter, Katrina of East Lansing Michigan; sisters, Jessie Allen, Rosie Moore, and Flora Courtney; one brother, Bennie Courtney all of Jackson Mississippi; two grandchildren, Brittany Price, Los Angeles, California and Brandon Price, East Lansing, Michigan; one great-grandchild, Bryson Price, and many family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Mae Courtney; his father, Henry Price; brothers, John D. Price, and Joseph Courtney.
