Evelyn J. (Sisson) Bowman

Evelyn Jean Bowman 81, of Benton Harbor, MI, departed this life on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital.

Evelyn Jean (Sisson) Bowman was born January 8, 1940, in Jefferson City, Missouri to
James and Jimmie Sisson. Evelyn was united in marriage on July 23, 1985, to Wylie Bowman.

Evelyn accepted the Lord, was baptized, and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Elder Bosie Bowman at the Greater Faith Apostolic Church. Evelyn later joined the Word Up Apostolic Ministries under the leadership of Bishop O.C. Isom. While there, she served faithfully for 15 years as a Sunday school teacher and Usher Board President.

Evelyn's most precious moments were spending time with her beloved great-grands Kamaria, Brandon Jr., Breyonna, Tyree, her Baby J, and of course Boss Baby. She enjoyed reading the Word of God and cooking for her family. Evelyn was known for baking the best peanut butter cookies ever.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories, 5 sons, Earl (Charlene) Bowman of Benton Harbor, Wylie (Paula) Bowman of Grand Rapids, and Leon (Shawndela)Isom, Bernard (Carolyn) Isom, of Ann Arbor, MI, and Shakir Bowman of Detroit MI. 3 daughters, Adrienne Terrell of Atlanta Georgia, Shelia Moore of Grand Rapids, MI, Darlene Isom of Ann Arbor MI. 1 sister, Nellie Lewis of Colorado. Grandchildren, Tyeshia (Jermaine) Brown of Grand Rapids MI, Amber Bowman, Andrea Terrell, Antonio Terrell, Quincy Bowman all of Benton Harbor MI, Earl Bowman Jr of Indianapolis, and Sylethia Gant, Alex Bowman, Leketa Baldwin of all Grand Rapids MI. 25 great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 2 Goddaughters: Stephanie & Catrina Jones and a longtime friend Earlie Boyd.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wylie Bowman, son, Shawn Bowman, daughter, Vanessa Bowman, her parents James & Jimmie Sisson, brothers, Chester Sisson, Abraham Sisson, Sylvester Sisson; sisters: Juanita Baxton, Ora Coldcalaugh, and Dorothy Evans.
