Ernest L Washington, affectionally known as Fatboy, was born in Hayti, Missouri on May 22, 1943. His parents are the late Prentis and Clara Washington. Ernest was the last child of 9 children.
Fatboy enjoyed spending time with family. Playing spades, having get-togethers and BBQ's always made him smile. He loved opening his pool to the neighborhood kids so they could swim. His supreme joy was putting up Christmas lights during every Christmas season and watch people drive-by the house and point. He would turn off the inside lights to peek outside to see those passing by. He also loved helping people! From doing their income tax and always trying to find ways to get them back a little "something extra." To loaning money to someone in need of paying rent and household bills.
Fatboy leaves to cherish his memories; his beautiful wife of 57 years, Freddia Washington of Benton Harbor, MI. She cared for him during his last days with determination and unyielding devotion. Their five children; Brenda Washington, Annette Washington and Karima Washington of Benton Harbor, MI. Tangila Jefferson (Bryan) of Deland, FL. Ernest Washington Jr. (Jamila) of Kalamazoo, MI. He also leaves to mourn nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was Godfather to Derrick Miller, Damita Burton and Simeon McCoy. Special friends to Joe Hayes, Willie Love, Ruby Lee and Bobby Jordan.
He was preceded in death by all his siblings; three brothers James, Dan and Ambrose Washington; five sisters Elizabeth Deshay, Marie Cherry, Bernice Conway, Catherine Mosley and Lillie Hudson.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4
