Emma Hill Obituary

Emma Hill is known to her family as Mother Dear/Mother Love, 71, born in St. Louis Missouri, relocated to Michigan in 1959, and has been a resident of Benton Harbor for many years.

Emma went home to be with the lord on June 2, 2022, while at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph Michigan. Emma was born October 30, 1950, in St. Louis Missouri to the union of Dolly Bell Reece (Hill) and Jim Hill. Emma worked for Patterson Printing for over 30 years before retiring in the year 2020. Emma was a very loving and caring mother, one of the greatest mothers you could have asked for. Growing up, our Mother Love never had to say anything to us when we misbehaved, all she had to do was give us the (eye) and we knew we had better sit down and straighten up.

Emma always taught us to stand up for ourselves and never to run even if we were scared. She had that same fight in her all the way to the end. Mother Dear loved spending time with her family, listening to music, playing cards, and letting you know exactly what was on her mind. We will miss her smile and laughter; her strength will be missed but never forgotten.

Emma leaves to cherish her memories (children) Linda, Morris, William (Hill), Celinda (Brian) White all of Benton Harbor Michigan. (Stepchildren) Teijuana Bowman (Benton Harbor), Jairia McCoy of Battle Creek, MI, William Penn, Josh (Ashley) Penn of Indianapolis. (Sibling) Doris Winston of Indianapolis and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Emma was proceeded in death by her parents Dolly Bell Reece (Hill) and Jim Hill. (Siblings) Pearlie May Brady, Robert Lee Brady Sr. of Benton Harbor, Shirley May Hill of Missouri, (Grandson) Kevin Hill, (Nephews) Richard, and Lewis Suggs of Benton Harbor. (Aunts) Daisy Dyer and Rosie Mcghee of Benton Harbor.
