Eleanor Lee Joann (Echols) Davis was given from Heaven on May 10, 1947, and was called back to Heaven on August 10, 2021. Eleanor was a member of Second Baptist Church being baptized on Eighth Street by Reverend W.G. Wilson. She was a member of the Deaconettes Missionary Circle, Greeters Ministry and she loved volunteering at Vacation Bible School.
Eleanor received her elementary education at Bard School and was a member of the Benton Harbor High School class of 1965. She later attended Lake Michigan College and Jordan College.
Eleanor worked in the nursing field for more than three decades with her career culminating at Orchard Grove Extended Care Center until a health condition precluded continuing in her beloved field.
She served on the Citizen’s Advisory Council for the City of Benton Harbor and was a charter member of the Lake Michigan Choupette Red Hat Society.
Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory three sons- Keith Davis and Kevin Davis of Kalamazoo, Karl Davis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; four daughters- Richonda Davis, Kimberly Davis and Shaya Jackson of Benton Harbor and Deidra Travier of Kalamazoo; two Godchildren- Theresa Ewing and Kathy Travier; 36 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren; two beloved sisters- Cansada Beck and Danethel Whitfield, one brother-in-law Charles Beck and a longtime friend- James Peek. She also leaves behind cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Hugh Davis, her daughter Stephanie Renee Delaney, daughter-in-law Erin Nicole Davis, and parents Albert and Pearlie Mae Echols.
