Dorothy Jean Neal was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on October 30, 1933 to the union of Charlie Lee Brock and Erma Haynes. Being raised in a Godly home she knew the importance of having Christ in her life. At a young age she confessed her hope and faith in Christ. She graduated from Aberdeen Colored High School.
Dorothy relocated to East St. Louis Illinois where she married Walter Neal Jr., who preceded her in death. Later in her life she moved to Benton Harbor. She loved working with young children. She worked for many years and retired from the Benton Harbor School District. She also worked for several years in the health care field.
Dorothy was dedicated and committed to serving the Lord. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was very close to Pastor Emery Varrie during her time as a member of Pilgrim Rest. Dorothy loved Sunday School, studying the bible and listening to good gospel music.
Dorothy answered the call from labor to reward on Thursday, October 2nd at the Willows in St. Joseph, MI. She leaves to cherish her memory Sister-in-Law Roxanne, Nieces: Sarah (Andrew)Crump, Barbara (Dean), Pamela, Jaquetta (Walter)McGlothan, Shardell, Ethel, Altha, Carla, Tamiko & Angela (Troy). Nephews Stanley, Chuck (Jackie), Tim (Debora), Vincent. Special daughters, Jackie (Angelo) Martin and Diamond Thomas, as well as a host of great nieces, nephews. She will be sorely missed by cousins Velma Dawkins, Jeanette (Jerry) Moses, Anna, Lois & Vera (Bill) Toples. and dearly loved friends Pat Erby, Rochelle Boyd & Linda Muhammad.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Charlie & Erma, Aunt Teressa, daughter Anne, brothers Arthur, Tom Henry, Willie Zach, Walter, Charles. and sister Willie Clay. Nieces Wylene, Carolyn & Mary, Nephews Arthur Jr., Raymond, Larry & Rodney
