Dorothy Golliday Obituary

Dorothy Golliday was born on February 8, 1950, to Robert and Pearlie Kellie in Osceola, Arkansas. She was raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and made Detroit her home. Dorothy received her formative education in the Benton Harbor School System, attending Bard Elementary School where she served as a cheerleader. In 1967, she graduated from Benton Harbor High School and received a French scholarship to attend college. However, she chose to start her beautiful family and married George Golliday, Jr., and to this union, two children were born, Tracy and George, III. Dorothy’s career path was diverse beginning with Mercy Hospital as a dietary aide to Heath Company as an assembly line worker, Benton Harbor Police Department, a Peer Counselor at Our Hope, and a cashier at Superland Food Market. She lived her true purpose in taking care of patients as a certified nursing assistant providing in-home care with Enriched Life Health Care and the State of Michigan.

She leaves behind her family and friends to celebrate her life including her children, Tracy Golliday-Corley (Christopher), Ewa Beach, HI, and George Golliday, Detroit, MI; grandchild, Lauren Golliday, Dallas, TX; sisters, Vera Singleton, Benton Harbor, MI, Peggy Kellie, Detroit, MI, Annette Kellie, Grand Rapids, MI, Rene Kirklin, Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Ouida Kellie, Grand Rapids, MI; brothers, James Kellie Detroit, MI, Charles Kellie Detroit, MI, Imogene (Rickey) Thompson, Kalamazoo, MI, Michael (Tina) Kellie, Grand Rapids, MI, and Calvin (Katherine) Kellie, Grand Rapids, MI; aunt, Mary (Melvin-deceased) Shaw, Benton Harbor, MI; uncle, Clarence (Georgia) Willis, Benton Harbor, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert and Pearlie Kellie, and siblings Robert Kellie Jr., Arthur Lee Kellie, Viola Kellie, and Alice Faye Kellie. Dorothy took her rest on April 24, 2020. Her sister, Barbara Kellie Christian joined her one day later.
