Deacon Willie Valentine Sr. Obituary

Mr. Willie Valentine Sr. was born on October 16, 1950, in Clarksdale Mississippi to James Sr. and Lillie Mae Valentine. He was the fourth of nine children.

Willie grew up in Chicago Illinois where he attended DuSable High School. He worked as a baker for Lloyd J Harrison Bakery. In 1977, Willie relocated to Benton Harbor Michigan to be around family. He worked at Whirlpool in St. Joseph Mi. until they closed. He also worked for Lakeland Health and had multiple other jobs.

Willie accepted Christ as the head of his life, and united with Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Gavin, currently under the leadership Kenneth Robinson. Willie was an active member of his church and was ordained as a Deacon.

Willie had a great love for people. He loved his community and was helpful to all who needed him. He was very comical and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He also loved to go fishing.

Willie made his transition to Glory on October 10, 2020, at Spectrum Lakeland Health, where he was surrounded by family. He leaves to cherish his Memories, One daughter Felicia (Robert) Crocker of Chicago Illinois. Two sons Willie (Lisa) Valentine Jr. of Coloma Mi. and David Valentine of Benton Harbor.  Five sisters: Mary Harris, Rosetta Valentine, Shirley Valentine, and Carol Kelly all of Benton Harbor, and Leanna Spanks of Grand Rapids Mi. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunties, uncles, nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents James and Lillie Valentine, one son Ronald Greene, one daughter Patricia Neal. Three sisters, Bobbie Thomas, Delores Valentine, Mary Brown, one brother James Valentine Jr.
