Dan McCall 70, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, November 17th at Spectrum Health Lakeland after a lengthy illness.
Dan McCall was born in Marion, South Carolina on Oct 4, 1951, to Parents Dorothy & Fred McCummings Sr. At the age of 10 years old his family moved to New York, City.
Dan is a veteran of the Vietnam War. At age seventeen he enlisted and was stationed at Parris Island South Carolina Boot camp in 1968. He served two tours or 36 months in Vietnam. He was a Sharpshooter on the battlefield. His accuracy earned him a Sargent ranking they're becoming a RECON MARINE" that earned him his Gold Wings for his cap that he wore proudly then and now. He was wounded in his hand and foot when he stepped on a bayonet. The discipline and Patriotism he learned as a United States Marine never left him as his wife, family, and friends can attest.
Dan moved to Benton Harbor after meeting his lovely wife Barbara, who he stated was his sole-mate.
Dan loved fishing and working on cars that he learned from his uncle Dick McCummings growing up. Dan gave his life to Christ 20 years ago. He and his wife are long-time members of the Word of Truth Deliverance Ministries in Benton Harbor under Bishop James Hightower.
Dan is survived by his wife Barbara McCall of 44 years, brother Fred McCummings Jr, Montville PA, daughter Dr. Delecia T Greene, Albany, New York, Stepdaughter Marianna Hill, Benton Harbor, stepson Alvin Hill, Atlanta Georgia, Grand-daughter Natasha (Anthony) Baker, Indiana, Grand-son Antione Hill, Indiana and Christopher Hill, Benton Harbor and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephew.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy & Fred McCummings Sr, Father-in-Law Edward hill, Mother-in-law Alberta Hill, Sister-in-law Annie P Hill, and Brother-in-laws Charles and William R Hill.
