Dan Lee Johnson Sr., 78 of Benton Harbor was called home by God on September 19, 2024.

Dan was born on July 3, 1946 to Sarah Johnson and Taris Jackson in Letohatchie, Alabama. He was a hardworking man who didn't want to sit down. Dan was always assisting others, and he liked to remain active. He was fond of taking care of his family and he was always there for others.

Dan enjoyed riding around and enjoying life. He liked watching TV; his favorite shows were WWE and the First 48. Dan enjoyed visiting the casino to play the slot machines. He enjoyed listening to music and dancing.

Dan served his county for 22 years in the United States Army. He was a proud and respectful retired veteran who would return to the military if he could. Although Dan suffered from PTSD, he still enjoyed life with his wife, family and friends.

Dan relocated to Benton Harbor in 2015 where he met his wife Kaneasha Johhnson. They married on January 4, 2016 in Covington, KY. Kaneasha loved him deeply, and will keep him in her heart and mind forever. Dan loved her deeply as well.

Dan leaves behind his wife, Kaneasha Johnson; daughters, Cheryl Garner, Cabrina Roberson, Shanna Fashion, Linda Johnson Haigler, Valerie Nickerson and Talisa Hawkins; sons, Kyrei Heard, Javier Johnson, Jesse Jackson III, Dan Lee Johson Jr., and  Daniel Nickerson; sister, Willie Mae Thomas; brother, Curtis Williams; 45 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Elisa Perkins; sisters-in-law, Shericka Perkins and Rickiea McMillion; brothers-in-law, Ricky McMillion, Tommy Heard III and  Quartez Perkins; specials cousin, Dennis Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Johson; father, Taris Jackson; daughter, Adrienne Nickerson; son, Derrick Bristol;
