Cortney Vartez Washington, 23, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, joined his honorable ancestors on May 18, 2023. Though his presence will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, we all take comfort that he is now in the luminance of our Lord, and the arms of those who have gone on before him. He is at peace.
We were all blessed with his beginning on September 1, 1999. Cortney was a life long resident of Benton Harbor, but also had explored & experienced residence in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and most recently Atlanta, Ga. Always known as living life on his terms, Cortney always stayed true to his beliefs, never allowing others to dictate his direction to follow. At times, he was sometimes stubborn, as with each of us, but always accepting it in others as well. He did not shy away from challenging the accepted norms, but at the same time knew others carried & display the same values. He lived his life but accepted others, the same way.
Cortney left behind a multitude of family including his mother, Marie R. Washington, father, Wisteria Walker, father, Joe Clifton Jr.; siblings, Shawntavyas Washington, Jabari Clifton, Tabitha Walker, Maurisha Walker, Wisteria (Lil) Mann Walker, Dalquariana Walker, Shaterika Walker, William Walker; uncles, Wiley Washington, Patrick Washington, Eddie Mitchell, and Jewvar Walker; aunts, Pamela Sales, Regina Mitchell, Precious Sanders, Brittany Williams, and Shirley Brown.
Cortney also leaves behind a multitude of extended family members, too numerous to mention here, along with a host of friends and acquaintances. All in all, he leaves his legacy and memory intact, therefore living within each of us.
