Cortaze Alex Pettigrew, 34, of Benton Harbor answered the Lord’s call to come home on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
Cortaze was born on July 9, 1987, to Earlene and Frederick Pettigrew in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Mr. Pettigrew is a graduate of Benton Harbor High School class of 2005 and he attended Lake Michigan Community College. He was employed at Modern Glass in Wyoming, Michigan.
Cortaze was a dedicated and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Mr. Pettigrew was an intelligent, hard-working, and thoughtful person with a good heart and a glorious sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and loved them all. Cortaze loved fishing with his parents. On August 12, 2018, Cortaze opened his heart and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior by being baptized at his home church of the City of Pentecost in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His peaceful spirit is now with God.
Cortaze leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Tia Pettigrew, Children Zaria, William, Timothy, Cortaze, Whitney, Corteza, and Cayden. His loving parents: Earlene and Fred Pettigrew, (4) brothers Carl (Doryai) Allison of Atlanta GA, Kenneth Beasley of Atlanta GA, Calvin Parker of Benton Harbor, MI, Fred (Vicky) Pettigrew Jr. of Fort Worth TX. (7) Sisters Carolyn Allison, Juliana Parker, Latasha Parker, Shewanda Pettigrew, Jeannette (Ira) Ward all of Benton Harbor, MI, Jacqueline (Edward) Brown of Calfornia and Kimberley (Vincent) Hegar of Kentwood MI. A host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friend Guy Page.
Cortaze Alex Pettigrew is preceded in death by his son Patrick Pettigrew, brothers Michael Hadley, Daryl Keith Parker, his paternal grandparents -Maimie Thomas, Charles Pettigrew, and maternal grandparents - Lonnie and Lucille Parker and his Uncle Robert and his beloved Aunts - Evelyn, Essie, Bessie, Clotee’, Doveanna, Lottie, Delores, & Vilma.
