Cleavy Bradley Obituary

Cleavy Bradley was born on April 30, 1934, in Henderson, TN.  She was the 7th of 14 children born to the late Isaiah and Belzora Johnson. She departed this life to be with the Lord on August 30, 2020, after a lengthy illness.  

Cleavy grew up in the church and gave her life to the Lord at an early age.  In 1950, she married Joseph Pritchard Bradley and they were blessed with three sons.  In pursuit of a better life, Cleavy and Joseph moved to Benton Harbor in the early 1950s where she worked in a factory until she retired. She received her GED and Nursing Assistant Certificate later in life. She went on to work as a foster grandparent in Benton Harbor Area Schools.  

Cleavy was an active member of Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and wherever else she was needed.  She received many certifications and acknowledgments over the course of her life.

Cleavy leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Joseph (Gloria) Bradley of Benton Harbor, MI and Marvin (Teresa) Bradley of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters, Mary Carter and Martha Wardlow of Humboldt, TN; three brothers, Aaron Johnson of Humboldt, TN, Namon Johnson of Dayton, OH and Rev. Samuel Johnson of Akron, OH; seven grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild, and a host of family and friends.

Cleavy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bradley, her son Frankie, her parents Isaiah and Belzora Johnson, five brothers; her twin A.V., Barnabus, Paul, Silas, and Ilittle Johnson; three sisters, Zetti Lee Sain, Leavy Moore, and Vanilla Davis.
