Life Reflections of Clarence Mathis                     

Clarence Mathis was born on May 3, 1954, in Hughes, Arkansas to the late Gracie Smith and the late JD Mathis. He attended school at Rosenwald in Osceola, Arkansas and later joined and served in the Marines.

Clarence loved to cook and had an affectionate way to make you laugh especially if his “Good felt Good”.                              

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Mathis, sisters Ollie Dority, Clara Rogers, and Rosie Lee Johnson. Two brothers, JD Mathis and JC Mathis and one grandson, Terez Herd.

He leaves to cherish to his loving memories three sisters, Queen (Edward) Robinson of Grand Rapids, MI, Mary Caldwell and his favorite brother-in-law Jimmie Caldwell Sr both of Benton Harbor, MI and Alma Hurst of Kalamazoo, MI. Three brothers, Earnest Bliss Jr., Andrew Mathis of Evansville, Indiana and Alfred Matthews of Osceola, Arkansas. Two sons, Chris Gammons of Beloit Wisconsin and Carlos Payne of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Four daughters, Felicia (Frederick) Gammons Brown of Acworth Georgia, Tamala Mathis and Mary Gammons both of Beloit Wisconsin and Crystal Mathis of South Bend, Indiana. 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friend.
