Charles “Butch” Clarence Williams, 72, of Benton Harbor, transitioned peacefully in his home on November 9, 2020. Charles was born on December 9, 1947, in Forest City, Arkansas to Preston Williams and Johnnie Mae Coleman. Charles moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan at an early age and years later married Catherine Glaspy on August 23, 1966. To their union, two daughters were born.
Charles was talkative, hardworking and an honest man who devoted his life to his family loved the Lord and was a faithful member, Elder, and treasurer of the East Main Street Church of Christ. Charles took great pride in managing his properties, he was passionate about financial health and was a lover of knowledge. He was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren and the children who knew him well.
Charles leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving wife, Catherine, daughters- Charlene Williams and Carla (Eric) Crockett, embraced son-Orrin (Tommijuana) Howard, grandchildren-Siobhan (Shawn) Williams-Moore, Erica (Michael) Knight, Kaitlyn (R’Quan) Mack, and Jessica Crockett, brothers and sisters- James (Lenda) Smith, Lester (Dot) Smith, Dorothy Smith, Walter Smith, Joel Williams, Debra Williams, Trent Williams, Terry Williams, Jessie Brewer, Margaret Wint, a special cousin Willie “Cookie” Ickom, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents: Johnnie Mae, Preston, stepfather James Smith, sisters Arrachel Smith, LaShon Williams, and brothers Stanley and Dubois Williams.
