Calvin Williams Obituary

Calvin Lee "Bossman" Williams passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020, with family by his side at the age of 78.  Calvin was born to the union of the late Johnny and Jerlene Williams on November 11, 1941, in Brinkley, Arkansas. 

Calvin moved to Chicago, Illinois to work at an early age.  While in Chicago, he joined hands in holy matrimony to Bessie Brooks and to this union seven children were born.   They later moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan where he resided until his death. 

In the late 1960’s, Calvin was employed at Clark’s Equipment in Buchanan, Michigan for several years.  He left Clarks in pursuit of his passion as an auto mechanic.   He opened his own business, Williams & Pugh Phillip 66 gas station.  Calvin was a well-respected auto mechanic, in the twin cities area.  He also enjoyed his motorcycle and took an avid interest in his high powered performance car, 1971 Ford Mustang.  Calvin competed and won numerous races in the quarter-final professional drag racing.  He was a devoted member of the Midnight Riders M/C, Naptown Riders M/C and served as President of the Strong Riders M/C until he retired. 

Calvin is survived by ten (10) children:   Marion Williams-Horhn of  Austin, Texas; Calvin Williams of South Bend, Indiana; Alvin Williams of West Memphis, Ark.; Audrey Lewis of Benton Harbor, MI; Sanford Williams of Benton Harbor, MI;  Angelia Bariane of Memphis, TN; Samuel Williams of Benton Harbor, MI; Eric Williams of West Memphis, Ark.; Marceish Meridy of Benton Harbor, MI; Kevin “Tiny” Williams of Benton Harbor, MI; Sheronda Erby of Memphis, TN, and godson, Che Wright of  Benton Harbor, MI.  two (2) brothers; Johnnie Williams of Battle Creek, MI and Charles Williams of Washington, D.C.; three sisters:  Mary (Roland) Bonner of Aurora, Ill; Verdella (George) Coleman of Memphis, TN; Phillis (Lonnie) Jones of Robbins, Ill.;  Aunt, Bernice Sanders of Bonner Spring, KS; two uncles; Lewis Bates of Flint, MI and Herman Bates of Detroit, MI; 41 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Jerlene Williams; one granddaughter, Dana Williams, one grandson, Demetrius Ellis, and one sister, Wanda Faye Williams.
