Calvin Brown Obituary

Calvin Eugene Brown, 77, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2025, at Bronson Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Calvin was born in Bogalusa LA, on July 23, 1947, to the union of Louis Brown Sr., and Velma Dawson.  Calvin moved to Benton Harbor at a very early age and attended Benton Harbor area schools.

Calvin was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his unwavering strength, loyal friendship, and his deep love for those close to him. Calvin was a proud resident of Benton Harbor, where he spent his life building lasting relationships and leaving a legacy of love and wisdom.

Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Army, as Vietnam War veteran. His bravery, dedication, and sacrifice for his nation will always be remembered and appreciated.

He had a passion for the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and had an enthusiasm for keeping his lawn well-manicured.  He dedicated many years of his life as an employee at The Whirlpool Corporation, and Ausco Products. His work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, he found gratitude in attending church and was an avid fan of all sports.

He is survived by his brothers Bob (Ella) Brown of Saint Joseph, MI, Elliot West of Benton Harbor MI, his daughters Corliss (Leon) Williams and Caryn Brown both of Benton Harbor MI, and two sons Keith (Tamesha) Brown of Stevensville MI, and Alonzo Morris of Cartersville, GA.  Calvin leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece’s, nephew’s family and friends.

Calvin was proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Brown, his parents Louis Brown Sr., and Velma West Cornelius, his brothers Rochester Brown and Louis Brown Jr., sister Dorothy Lee Brown-Brumfield, and daughter, Kizzy Viverette-Whitmore.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone that has called, sent text messages, cards and offered support to the family during this time.

Calvin will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
