A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and, aunt, Annie Mae Donald, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on November 13, 2024. Born in Helena, Arkansas in 1942, she professed her faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ at an early age.
Annie attended Southside Elementary School and Elijah Miller High School. Shortly afterward she left Arkansas and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was in Grand Rapids that she met and married Willie Warren, Sr. They lived happily in Grand Rapids for a short while before deciding to move to Benton Harbor, MI to start a family. Together they raised 10 children, never sparing the rod of correction (when necessary) and providing a solid foundation with love and compassion.
Being a God-fearing woman, Annie stressed and instilled in her children the importance of family and living in a godly manner. Annie & Willie, Sr. taught their children to stick together and to always be there for one another.
Annie was a resilient, fearless and resourceful woman. She always spoke her mind without regret, never backed down to anything, and shared her pearls of wisdom when she thought it was needed. She loved to travel, spend time with her family, completing word search puzzles, cooking during holidays and family gatherings, gardening, fishing, and watching classic black & white western movies and TV shows.
Annie lived her life with vitality, grace and peace mostly because of her love for the Lord and her family. During her last days of life, she would pray and ask the Lord for protection for her children and sing old spirituals. She left this earth knowing that God would keep His promises and honor her prayers. She is now singing and rejoicing with the angels in heaven.
Annie was preceded in death by Willie D. Warren, Sr. (husband), Dorothy & Barbara Warren (daughters) Lillie Mae Drayton (mother), Lenard Atlas (father) Mary Smith (mother-in law), Sammy Warren, Sr. (father-in-law), Bonnie Lee Warren (son), Marvin Warren (grandson), Roosevelt Drayton & Walter Anderson (brothers), Laura Drayton (aunt), Dan Drayton (uncle), Simeon Drayton (uncle), James Drayton Sr. (uncle), Lynnette (Beanie) Johnson (niece) Walter Anderson Jr. (nephew) and Sammy Donald, Sr. (second marriage).
