Alfred McGee Jr. Obituary

Alfred McGee was born on February 13, 1946, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Lula Mae Gillispie Albert. As Alfred grew, his grandparents, Jesse and Lillie Mae McGee, lovingly adopted him, giving him their name and raising him as their own. His aunts — Marva Louise, Viola, Oletha, and Jesse Mae — and his uncles — James, Ro, and Willie Dee — became his siblings in every way.  All have preceded him in death except one.

Alfred accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Pastor C.H. Jones of Beautiful Gate Baptist Church, where he became a member. Later in life, he joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Dr. Daniel E. Cook, continuing his walk of faith.

Throughout his life, Alfred worked in various places and eventually retired from Arnt’s Asphalt. He was a devoted sports fan — especially football and basketball — and if a game was happening anywhere in the city, Alfred was sure to be there, even though he never left Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Alfred leaves behind cherished memories with his sister, Betty Walker, and his brothers, Bennie Lee, TJ, and Edward Lee Albert. He also leaves his last surviving aunt/sister, Marva Louise Pullium. Alfred is remembered with love by his children of love and their mother, Frances Isom, along with his very special grandson of love, Kameron Bentley. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Lastly, Alfred leaves his companion and best friend, May Dobbs, who stood by his side with love and loyalty.

Rest in Peace, Alfred.
