William Finch Obituary

William Jeffrey Finch transitioned on March 16, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Legacy farewell service will be held on March 27, 2018 at Second Baptist Church 600 Donald Adkins Drive, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 10:00 am and services beginning at 11:00 am.

William Jeffrey (Jeff) Finch made a peaceful yet unexpected transition March 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.      

Jeff was born September 4, 1970 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Robert and Barbara Finch. He began his employment career with Green County Cable Company in grade school. Jeff was a graduate Of Coloma High School.

Jeff was always dedicated to family, friends and public service. Jeff served our country as a member of the United States Air Force during Desert Storm. His tour of duty also took him to the United Kingdom where he teamed with the Royal Air Force and served as a Security Specialist. During his military career Jeff received the Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Jeff completed his service and was honorably discharged in 1993 having earned the rank of Sargent.

Jeff was a graduate of Twin City Beauty College. Following graduation, Jeff joined the family business working alongside his proud father at the Dollar Man Barber Shop.  Eventually, he became sole proprietor of the business.

As a young child, Jeff developed a passion for guns and became a firearms enthusiast.

Jeff was also a gifted storyteller and made all those around him feel better with laughter and a joke. He was a loving and devoted father, partner, son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin and friend and will be deeply missed by many.

Jeff’s public service included affiliation in several fraternal organizations which brought him great pride. He was a former Vice Commander at American Legion Post 10. He was a Master mason with his subordinate lodge being New Bethel #2. He was a member of the Homertowne Royal Arch Chapter of Masons and was a member of the Saint Andrews Knights Templar. He was also an Abba Temple Shriner and belonged to King Darius Grand Lodge. Jeff was a member of Mt. Shilo and received his 32nd Degree of Consistory. He attained the high honor of 33rd Degree Inspector General.

Jeff is survived by his life partner Tisha Bowens; parents Robert and Barbara Finch; one son Christopher Anthony Finch; two brothers Robert Lee (Timmy) (Angie) Finch II, and Robbin (Alecia) Lee; grandmother Mae Duett Midgett; one uncle Larry (Jeannine) Midgett; one niece Tiffany Finch and one nephew Robert Lee (Bobby) Finch III, special cousins K. Debora (Timothy Brock) McCoy, Zachary McCoy-Brock and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Mack and Truller Lee Finch; Grandfather Robert Butler; and one Uncle William Finch.
