Vera Lee (Riggins) Anderson

Mother Vera Lee Anderson, 87 of Benton Harbor, MI pulled off mortal and put on immortality making the transition to her heavenly home peacefully, September 30, 2019 at home.

On August 31, 1932, Vera was born as the second daughter of the late Nathaniel Lee Riggins, Sr. and Ollie Mae Riggins nee Madden in Memphis; TN. Vera was baptized at the age of 13 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Vera married the late William Archibald in 1950 at the age of 18.  When they relocated with their five children to Benton Harbor in the early 1960s, Vera joined in Christian fellowship with Bethlehem Temple under the leadership of the late Elder W.H. Hunter.

In 1982, she married Roosevelt “Rudy” Jenkins and together they lovingly raised a family of 10 wonderful children. 

In 1983, Vera united in fellowship with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church; where she served over 20 years as the church pianist under the late Rev. Joe Hines.  At Pleasant Grove, Vera met the late L.B. Anderson whom she married in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; (3) husbands; (1) brother, Nathaniel Lee Riggins, Jr; (1) special sister-in-law: Lucille Sanders; (1) daughter: Lou Thelma Archibald; (3) grandsons: Eric “Peanut” Jenkins, Travis Paster, Marcus Ford; (1) great-great-grandson: Jamahei Fuller.

Vera leaves precious memories in (10) children-William Archibald Jr., Stevie (Daisy) Archibald, LeAndre (Bertha) Archibald, David Archibald, Edward (Etta) Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Clarice Archibald, Sherry Lynn (Patrick) Hill, Ramona (Bennie) Paster, and Annalisa Ford; (2) sisters-Bernice Davis and Laurine (Johnny) Stimage; (1) special Godson-Rev. Rodney C. Gulley; (25) grandchildren; (57) great-grandchildren; (12) great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
