Venus Featherstone, 60, of Benton Harbor passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Lakeland Hospital surrounded by her family.
Venus was the third of seven children born to Lula Mae Featherstone and John A. Featherstone, Sr. on April 30, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Benton Harbor and was a 1976 graduate of Benton Harbor High School. Venus was a cosmetologist and worked at Venus Beauty Salon with her mother Lula for several years. She was employed at Harbor Pointe Apartments where she enjoyed working and socializing with the residents.
Venus was feisty, outspoken, funny and never hesitated to give her opinion. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church in Benton Harbor.
She is survived by her two daughters: Whitney Dukes and Kennedy Lark; four grandchildren: Daja Dukes, Micah Blannon, Machi Blannon and Omar McClinton; three sisters: Margo (Pete) Mitchell, Shirley Carter and Lisa (John) Yankey; two brothers: Darren (Stephanie) Featherstone and Larry (Melanie) Featherstone; special cousins: Denise Beard and family, the Adkins family, and Myra Ratcliff; special aunt Johnnie Mae Ratcliff, and a host of nieces nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents Lula Mae and John Featherstone Sr., brother John A. Featherstone, Jr. and grandmother Pearlie Beard.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, with visitation at 10 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 600 Donald Adkins Drive. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery.
