Sarah Lee Rice, 85, of Benton Harbor, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2019, while surrounded by her family.  Sarah was born July 1, 1933, in Helena Arkansas to Willie “Bully” Horton and Bessie Lou Miller. 

The Homegoing Service will be held Monday, January 21, 2019, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2360 Townline Road, Benton Harbor Michigan with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m.  Final arrangements are entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home.

Sarah and her family relocated to Michigan in the early ’40s. Sarah graduated from Benton Harbor High School as a member of the class of 1952.  Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend W.E. Ellis, the late Reverend Emery Varrie and Reverend Carlton Lynch.  Sarah married the love of her life, Jettie Rice, on March 12, 1955. 

Sarah loved cooking, collecting hats, riding her bike, shopping, walking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her Pilgrim Rest Baptist  Church Family and her special neighbors, Harold and Carolyn Burton.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory (1) son Jettie Rice of Chandler Arizona, (2) daughters-Roena Rice and Venita Crayton of Benton Harbor, MI, brother Walter (Carol) Horton of West Bloomfield Hills MI, Brother- in -Law, Malcolm Butler of Benton Harbor, MI and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sarah was proceeded in death by her Husband- Jettie Rice; Parents-Willie and Bessie Horton; Siblings-Willie Horton Jr, Pearl Horton, and Ollie Mae Hull; Aunt-Lucille Sanders and a special friend, Claudia Stone.
