Oscar "Bug" Collins Jr

September 14, 1961 ~ November 29, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Oscar Collins Jr, affectionately known as "Bug" transitioned on November 29th, 2017. Legacy farewell celebration will commence on Saturday Dec. 9 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. with calling hours from 10am until the time of service. Until the trumpet sounds, he shall rest at North Shore Memory Gardens.

It was a great day in Berrien Springs MI, on September 14th 1961 to be exact that the union of Oscar and Shirley Collins welcomed their first screaming bouncing baby boy into the world, after much consideration they decided to name him Oscar Collins Jr. affectionately known as “Bug”.

Growing up, “Bug” was raised in in the sunny state of Florida, and attended Avon Park High School. During his education, he was very active in school sports and activities. Baseball was his passion, and he was recognized for his many achievements in the game within the local newspaper and media stations. Bug confessed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Pleasant Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Magnolia Mississippi.

“Bug” learned how to be a hard working man, by assisting with seasonal farming, from the orange groves of Florida, to the apple orchards of Michigan, any fruit or you could think of “Bug” worked with his grandparents  Seaborn & Annie Mae Ross, during harvest time every year.

Bug was a visionary and a progressive soul that had a vision, he operated his own small business of Lawn Care & Landscaping to provide for his family.

On November 29th, 2017 Oscar Collins Jr, heard the master say “Well done, thy good and faithful servant” transitioning from his earthly labor to his heavenly reward. He was greeted at heaves gates by his maternal grandparents; Welmon Taylor Sr & Cornelia Dickerson, Paternal Grandparents Seabron & Annie Mae Ross, brothers Robert Bernard Collins and Rynold Onield Collins, and great niece La’Riah Nyree Griffin.

Those bidding farewell are his parents, mother Shirley Taylor-Collins and father Oscar Collins (Annie Mae) of Benton Harbor MI, Fiancé; Tunnisha Harris, daughter Kalyn Collins both of Benton Harbor MI, sisters; Deborah A. Collins of Benton Harbor, Dinah Bledsoe (Albert) of Indianapolis IN, Marcia Howard (Dante), Toranita and Corvetta Meridy all of Benton Harbor, brothers; Stacey Collins (Carmen), Reginald Collins (Liesa) both of South Bend IN, Gregory Collins (Linda) of Kalamazoo MI, Cedrick Osby of Benton Harbor MI, God Daughters Crystal Butler of Grand Rapids MI, Shakea Clark of Memphis TN, and a host of other relatives and friends.
