Monek Finley Obituary

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck what has been planted” Ecclesiastes 3:(1-2)

The homegoing celebration for Missionary Monek Finley will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 with visitation starting at 10:00 am and services at 11:00 am at Brotherhood of All Nations COGIC, 516 Emery St, Benton Harbor, MI . For in life we have pleasures with our loved ones; we have sorrow and joys but Thank God for the memories that death cannot destroy. A life of love and faith is to be celebrated and never mourned.

Such a life began when Monek Nicolette Finley was born August 29, 1971 in Benton Harbor, MI to Shirley Wills and the late Robert Givens. Monek enjoyed her entire life in the City of Benton Harbor. She was the proud graduate of Benton Harbor Sr. High School Class of 1989. She later studied at Central State University. On October 9, 1992, Monek united in Holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Darwin “Steve” Finley II. The pride and joy of this union birth a beautiful baby girl De’Mia Finley. Monek accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Monek loved the Lord with her whole heart and her faith never wavered in him. She was a faithful servant to God and the ministry of Brotherhood of All Nations Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop James E. Atterberry Sr. In 2017, Monek became a Licensed Missionary under Bishop Atterberry. Missionary Finley served faithfully as the local Choir President, Sunday School Teacher and many other capacities of the ministry. She also served as State Choir President of Michigan Western II Jurisdiction.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Psalm 116:15 Missionary Monek Finley answered the call to eternal Glory on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Her legacy of faith and love will remain in her husband of 25 years-Darwin “Steve” Finley II; one daughter De’Mia Finley; her mother-Shirley Ann (Albert) Thomas; one sister-Tawana (Idris) Miskdeen; mother-in-law Roxie Finley-Gordon; father-in-law Darwin Sr. (Esther) Finley; two sister-in-law’s- Tonja (Stephen) Killingham and Jennifer (Michael) Ross; two brother-in-law’s Christopher Gordon and Corey Finley; her God-parents Bishop James E.
