Maryann Jones Obituary

Maryann Jones 69 of Benton Harbor transitioned at Lakeland Hospital surrounded by family. Legacy farewell services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, at Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, 1800 Territorial Rd, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 10:00 am followed by services at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Garden following services.

Our beloved Maryann was born on August 13, 1949, to the late Susie and T.J. Isom in Benton Harbor, MI. Maryann was the seventh child out of nine children. She was nicknamed ¨Sweet¨ by her mother because she was such a loving good girl and always done the sweetest things for her.

Maryann accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at age 13 at Bethlehem Temple by Pastor W.H. Hunter. She sang with the apostolic choir as a child and was a junior usher. She experienced spiritual growth continuously throughout her life, as she devoted more of herself to Christ. Maryann met and married her first husband Jerry Mitchell two children were born to this union Jerri and Lorne.

Maryann attended and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1968. She worked at Lakeland Hospital for over 27 years supervising for the Dietary Department of Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan. Maryann met and married the love of her life David Jones. They shared many years of marriage and together parented children.

By God´s grace and blessings... Maryann was very talented in taking care of everyone in the family. She was also known as ¨Big Mama¨ She was an excellent cook who loved and prepared many homemade dishes and desserts from scratch. The family looked forward to healthy delicious meals especially on holidays and special occasions. Maryann loved traveling on cruise ships venturing out to see the world. She enjoyed styling hair as well as interior decorating. She loved a variety of different sports and skating. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

The Lord called his angel home on December 12, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Maryann leaves her legacy and cherished memories to those she loved: Her husband David Jones; Daughter Jerri (Myron) Rice; Son Lorne (Rita) Mitchell; extended children Pamela Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell, Kevin (Bonita) Mitchell, Lisa (Paul) Broussard, David Jones Jr., Courtney Kimble, Keisha Hill-Kimble, Porche´ Kimble; Brothers Cleofus Isom, James (Sandra)Isom; Sisters JoAnn Willie, Lillie Taylor, Angelie Jackson, and Rose Michele Jackson; One special Goddaughter Tonya Robinson; Two special supportive Nieces/Goddaughters Shelon Taylor and Quantilda Peterson; Grandchildren and Great grandchildren and a host of wonderful Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousin, and Friends.

Maryann was preceded in death by two brothers Percy Truss, and T.J. Isom Jr.; Two sisters Gertha Lee Mitchell, Suzanne Isom, and one extended son Lonnie Mitchell, and a great-grandson Josiah Christopher Mitchell.

Maryann was fortunate to have been adored by people who loved her. Maryann loved the Lord, her family, friends, church, and community.
