Jordan Brooks Obituary

Jordan was born June 4th, 2000 to LaShawnda Smith-Abimbowo and Carleton L. Brooks. Jordan spent her childhood years in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Jordan gave her life to Christ at an early age, attending New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.T. Burton. Jordan was active in the choir and the praise dance team at New Paradise.

Jordan eventually relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan with her mother, step-father and baby sister. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 2018. Jordan attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and worked at Kalamazoo PEEP Pre-K/Preschool program located inside Arcadia Elementary. Jordan always had a big heart for children and will be deeply missed by the students, teachers, and staff there.

Jordan was passionate about art, winning awards during high school for her creative works. Her interest in art didn’t stop with drawings but shined in her fashion, hair, and make-up. If anyone loved lashes and a “beat face” it was Jordan Brooks. She intended to pursue her passion by attending cosmetology school, concentrating on makeup artistry.

Jordan loved traveling, family vacations and eating out. Her closest friends remember her as the person who would lend a listening ear and make them smile no matter what they were going through.

Jordan Amber  Brooks departed this life on Sunday, February 24th, 2019 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Pete and Bertha Jackson and Elam and Irene Thompson; grandparents, Betty, and Eugene Smith; special “Pa-Pa”, Jessie Sterling; and an uncle, Lejuan Buford.

Jordan leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother and step-father, Yemi and Lashawnda; of Kalamazoo, her father and step-mother Carleton and Toranita   brothers and sisters, Skyy, Alyssa, Nylah, Kyra and Carleton II; uncles and aunts, Felecia, Eugene Jr., Sherrie, Tanisha, Michelle, Angel, Sheldon and Courtney; great-great aunt and uncle, Clara and Jessie Adams; grandparents, Wavey and Lenny Thompson; god-mother, Dejuan Braxton; god-sisters and brother, Yasmine, Phillip and Morgan; god-father, Cole Williams; special cousins, Sha’Nique and Darius; best friends, Erin Jones and Tyrell Morgan; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
