Joe Ann Davis Allen, 60 of Benton Harbor went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2019.
Joe Ann was born on September 22, 1959, to Robert Marshall and Martha Davis Sherman in Blytheville, Arkansas. Joe Ann went to school in Blytheville and later moved to Benton Harbor in 1979 where she met the love of her life, Charles Allen. To this union two daughters were born; Topeka (1982) and Cymiah Allen (1985).
Joe Ann was employed with Zenith Data Systems for 12 years as a Computer Inspector. She moved to Indianapolis, in 2001 and worked for CVS warehouse for years as a forklift driver before moving back to Benton Harbor in 2007.
She was affectionately called “Joe” by her husband and those who loved her. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and eyes that lit up any room. She was a generous and patient woman. She was very serious about her spirituality. Joe Ann was a member of the Greater Grace Church since the ’80s. under the leadership of Bishop George Dewberry. She was a licensed minister and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a dedicated and loving mother to both her children and grandchildren.
Joe Ann enjoyed reading the bible and having fun with family and friends. She was a faithful member of Greater Grace Church under Bishop George Dewberry.
Joe Ann will forever be remembered in the hearts of her loving husband Charles Allen of Benton Harbor; Her daughters, Topeka (James) McClinton and Cymiah Allen; grandsons Donavan Jr., Devin, Dayvion Fraizer, and Charles Poole; Sisters, Felicia and Joyce Bodley of Benton Harbor; brothers, Jeffery Davis of Blytheville, Arkansas, Rodney Bodley of Sacramento, California, and Ernest Bodley of Benton Harbor; Two stepdaughters, Tonisha and Latoya Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana; stepfather, Roy Sherman of Benton Harbor; special aunt Helen Thomas of Benton Harbor; special cousin Melobie Sawyer of Benton Harbor; Special friends, Josie Tyson and Kathy Mitchell and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, church family, and friends.
Joe Ann was preceded in death by her father Robert Marshall; mother, Martha Sherman; brothers Dennis and Tony Bodley; grandparents, Walter and Fannie Davis.
