Joe Robin Griffin Jr.

Joe R. Griffin, Jr. was born November 14, 1969 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to his loving parents Joe and Claire Griffin.  Joe attended the local Benton Harbor area schools and graduated from Benton Harbor High School.  Joe had a love for music and played the trumpet while attending high school.  He also worked in the family business as a chef for many years.  After becoming aware of health challenges, Joe’s transition began and finally took place on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019 at 8:23 pm at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center Hospital in Lakeland, FL.

Joe had a passion for trains since he was a little boy, and when the opportunity presented itself Joe took that passion and turned it into his new career.   One day, without any fear, Joe decided to make a decision to move to Florida and start a new career at Railway, never looking back.  Because of his hard work and reliability year after year, Joe was promoted and eventually became a lead railroad conductor.  He served that company faithfully until his demise.

Joe was positive and kind, everyone who came in contact with his affectionate smile and his laid back attitude, wanted to know him.  He possessed a sense of humor that would keep you in stitches and a hug that would supply mountains of love.   Joe was a devoted and loving son, husband and father; and he will be greatly missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his children; Jovan, Jessica and Jasmine Griffin; grandparents Olie and Eather Dixon, Robert and Lillian Griffin.  

Joe is survived by devoted wife, Gabriella Griffin of Bartow, FL; his mother and father Joe R. Griffin Sr. and Claire B. Griffin of Benton Harbor, Michigan; children: Joe Griffin III of Benton Harbor,Michigan, Justin Griffin of Indianapolis Indiana, Jerrica Griffin of Grand Rapids Michigan, Jola & Jo’Nicia Griffin of Osceola Arkansas; all his grandchildren, sister: Glenda Paul of Plant City, Florida; brothers: Vernon T. Phillips and Olie J. Griffin of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and long time friends.
