To the family of Mr. Howard L. Burnside, so sorry to read about your loss. I went to school with Eddie, please accept my sincere condolences. The Bible says that God will do away with everything that causes us pain and suffering.

Mr. Howard Burnside was a very good friend of my father, the late Thomas B. Jones Sr. I'm praying for the Burnside Family that God may help them during this difficult time. Geraldine Jones

Uncle Howard, only you can know how much it has pained me to accept your passing.I never believed it could happen, but I know you are truly at peace and happy to be with Aunt Marie, Eddy, my Mom (Cerell) and your Mom ‘Bobba”...and getting to meet your older brother Robert and your grandmother for the first time. And getting to be with your other siblings. That must be a wonderful party! Uncle Howard, I will always remember and thank you so very much for being part of the Village to help me, as a single parent at a young age, take care of my little baby Tony, who is now grown and also very sad. I thank you for taking Tony to get his first hair-cut, and even though I said, “no part in his hair” you had the barber put a little part in his hair! I still laugh about that because you knew best. That little part in his hair was perfect! I also thank you and Aunt Marie for allowing me to have a birthday party at your house for my 15th birthday …. The only birthday celebration I can remember growing up. You and Aunt Marie were wonderful to me and my baby. When Tony was old enough to talk, he called you Uncle Howdy, and it stuck! Good night for now Uncle Howdy, rest in peace, and help look out for and protect all of us here until we meet again. Lots of Love, Terri and Tony

Uncle Howard...you will be missed and are loved so deeply by so many of us. The last words we spoke to each other were "I love you" -- thank you for loving me! For the sooooooo many happy and nonstop hilarious memories, thank you!

You kept me out of trouble with my parents and Aunt Marie wayyyyyy too many times to count., thank you. Especially, when I would need to sneak in late, after a home football game past curfew, thank you. For schooling me early that Benton Harbor is a small town, and we had family with eyes and years everywhere, thank you. For sharing all your Navy stories, thank you! For helping to spark my love of travel, thank you. For teaching me to bowl, thank you. For making me a fearless passenger on a motorcycle, thank you.

For telling me it's okay....I won't be the only one in the family who is not a great cook, thank you. I am FOREVER grateful for all our talks at the kitchen table, thank you. .For being the coolest uncle and your joking reaction when I wrecked my Auntie's too fly Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme, thank you. For when I accidentally... let's go with "tapped" your motorcycle with the same car and you said "it was the driveway's fault", thank you. For all our deep and thought -provoking political discussions, especially right now, thank you. Clearly, I could go on and on....Aunt Marie sure had great taste, that's #handsomeuncle all day -- every day!

For your part of living out loud the African proverb --" It takes a village to raise a child", thank you.
You always made me feel like your favorite niece, thank you. I know that I am! I am who I am because of God's blessing of our family with so many loving and phenomenal aunts and uncles always there for each other. Thank you for being my Uncle Howard!

I know you are joining family who have gone on before you, full of God's love, wisdom and laughter. Right about now, I know there is some kind of mega-party going on in heaven. I plan on joining you all there eventually....until then give everyone a kiss for me!

There is a new STAR shining bright in the sky to rest my eyes on now. My prayers are with you in this new journey to your final resting place.
