Ernest Bady

Deacon Ernest Bady departed this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the age of 88.

Deacon Bady was born Sept 7, 1930 in Vicksburg, Ms to Columbus & Virginia Bady who proceeded him in death.

Deacon Bady loved the Lord. He was baptized and ordained as a Deacon by the late Rev. D.E.Cooks at the Progressive Baptist Church and continued his ministry at the Fellowship M.B. Church and served as a Deacon for 40 years. He served in the United States Army as staff sergeant during the Korean War. Deacon Bady worked at Auto Specialties for over 37 years until his retirement and was active in the CIO Labor Union. He had the opportunity to march in the late Martin Luther King civil rights march in Washington DC in 1963. Deacon Bady also worked at the Benton Harbor Area School as custodian for 15 years. He found fulfillment and enjoyment in reading the Bible, mowing the lawn, and going to McDonalds with the guys to eat breakfasts and he enjoyed talking to his Grandchildren.

Deacon Bady is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Katherine Bady. He is survived by Pauline (Julian) Van Dyke, of Lansing, MI. Rickey Turner, of Bloomington MN.Cynthia Shannon, of Benton Harbor, MI.Maurice Turner, of Benton Harbor, MI.Quincy (Wendy) Turner, of Fort Worth, TX. Sonia James, of Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Bady has 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,Cousins and a host of friends.

Deacon Bady was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.

Home going celebration will be held starting with a wake on Friday January 25, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church 171 N Euclid, Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Second Baptist Church, 600 Donald Adkins Dr, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 10:00 am followed by services at 11:00 am.  Burial will take place on Monday January 28, 2019 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, in Augusta MI at 2:00 pm.
