Emma Jones, 83, of Benton Harbor passed away Sept. 9, 2017, in Stevensville.

Her celebration of life will take place at noon Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 395 Jakway, Benton Harbor, with the Rev. James O. Childs officiating. Viewing will be at 11 a.m. at the church until time of service. Burial will take place at Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Emma was born Oct. 16, 1933, to the late Fred and Josephine Gray in Crawford, Miss.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Fred Gray Jr, Robert Gray and Wilbert Gray; two sisters, Ollie Parker and Sarah Bettison; her husband, James Willie Jones; one daughter, Gloria Jean Matthews; and one son, Charles Matthews.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories four daughters: Deborah Earven, Brenda (Elijah) Burton, Rochelle Matthews, Shawnetti (Lionell) Wilburn; one son, Derek Lee Jones; a special daughter-in-law, Patricia Matthews; two brothers, Johnny (Ann) Gray, Hubert (Charlene) Gray; five sisters: Cora Weatherly, Dorotha (Eddie) Adams, Lula Searcy, Jeanette (Samuel) Cooper and Varnette (Lee) Bruce; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
