Dorothy Mae Thompson 67  formerly of Benton Harbor, transitioned on December 29, 2018, in Tacoma Washington. 

Dorothy Mae Thompson peacefully departed this life on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in Tacoma, Washington.

Dorothy was born on February 16, 1951, in Osceola, Arkansas to Steve and Lillie Mae Thompson. At the age of five, her family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan. Dorothy graduated from Benton Harbor High School and attended Lake Michigan Community College, where she pledged Delta Phi Si Sorority and became a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Deborah Chapter.

Dorothy moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where she worked and retired from First of America Bank in 2005. Dorothy relocated to Lakewood, Washington so that her son could ensure she received the best care possible.

Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, where she grew up in Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined and served at New Paradise Baptist Church.

Dorothy had many interests and enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing bingo, occasionally going to the casino and hosting sleepovers for her nieces and nephews in her home.  

Dorothy Mae Thompson is survived by her son, Antonio (Michele) Graham, two daughters Kashina (George) Dobbins and Kenyana (Charzis) Moore, 10 grandchildren, three Great grandchildren, one sister, Loretta Thompson-Adih, four brothers, Steve, Danny, Donald, Rev. Archie (Delores) Thompson and a Godbrother Robert (Laverne) Dawson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.  

Dorothy is preceded in death by both parents, her stepfather, grandparents, three brothers, and a sister.     

Funeral services are on Friday, January 11, 2019, at New Paradise Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, MI. Viewing begins at 11:00 followed by services at noon.
