Walter Lewis Brock, 89, of Benton Harbor went home peacefully to the Lord April 16, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. Services will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at East Main St. Church of Christ, 1451 E. Main St., Benton Harbor. Visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.

 Walter was born December 20, 1927 to the union of Charlie Brock and Sarah Pruitt in Aberdeen, Mississippi. 

Walter graduated from Aberdeen Colored High School in 1949. After relocating to Benton Harbor he married Doris Stafford and to that union four children were born.  He was a longtime member of East Main Street Church of Christ.

 Walter served his country as a member of the US Army from 1952 to 1954.  He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Occupational Metal (Germany) while enlisted.  Walter was employed at Auto Specialties for over 31 years and was a security guard at Cook Nuclear Plant and Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. He was the coach of the Indians at Union Field and after retirement, he continued to work.  He mowed lawns, plowed snow, fixed homes, and was a landlord for many years.   

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Roxanne; children:  Leonard, David, Michael (Kim), Gloria (Robert), Angela (Troy), and Tamiko; step-children: Tina, Sherri, and Isom; special grand-son, Lubert; sister, Dorothy; mother in law, Ollie Robinson; sister-in-law, Dula; several sisters and brothers in Christ; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-children, great grand-children, great great grand-children, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn;  step-mother, Erma; brothers: Tom Henry, Willie Zach, Arthur and Charles; and his grandson, Lyndale.
