Robert E Tillman heard the Lord say "Well done thy good and faithful servant on December 1. 2017. His Legacy farewell celebration will be held on December 9, 2017 at Peace Temple, 686 Territorial Blvd, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. With farewell services starting at 11:00 am, visitation services beginning at 10:00 am until time of service.
Mr. Robert Tillman was born on June 19, 1939 to Mr. John Henry Tillman and Mrs. Callie Cooper. The thirteenth child of fourteen children, Robert was born in Lexington, MS. He eventually moved to Chicago.
Robert’s only daughter, Deborah was born January 16, 1962.
After having grown up in the same city, Robert and his wife Gladis did begin a romantic relationship until they came together in Chicago in 1968. After six months of courtship, Robert and Gladis came together in holy matrimony on August 29, 1970. While in Chicago, Robert worked at Timmons Springs as a Parts Production Operator.
In 1972, the Tillman decided to move to Benton Harbor, MI. Robert worked for Michigan Standard Alloys as a parts production operator as well. After 25 years of employment, Robert suffered a knee injury in 1994 and retired in 1995 from the same company which had become Bosch Co.
Robert became a member of Pentecostal Apostolic Faith Peace Temple in 2002.
He is survived by his wife Gladis Tillman; one brother Clarence Tillman; one sister Gloria Jean Tillman; one daughter, Deborah (Oliver) Williams; three grandchildren, Oliver Jr. (Dana) Williams, Sheena Williams, and Rachad (Demetrious) Williams; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Tillman & Callie Cooper; three sisters, Nancy Davenport, Leola Rakin, &Susie Horton: and six brothers Lester Tillman, Preston Tillman, Clemont Tillman, Lee Jerry Tillman, Wilson Tillman. He had two additional siblings, twins that preceded him in death but their names are unknown.
