Doris Joseph 70, of Lansing Michigan, heard the master say "Well done, thy good and faithful servant" on October 19th, 2017, She crossed the finishline of this life and transitioned from earthly labor to her heavenly reward. Farewell services of distinction are Saturday, October 28, 2017 at high noon, in the hollowed walls of Our Center for Better Living 717 E. Napier St. Benton Harbor, MI. Until the trumpet sounds, she shall rest in Crystal Springs Cemetery.

A TIME TO BE BORN

Doris Joseph, 70, was born December 3, 1946 to the late Rosie Glass and Dewell Blanks. She crossed the finish line of this life and transitioned from earth on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

A TIME TO SERVE

Doris accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and served in church singing, cooking, and wherever else help was needed. She was a member of the Vocal Aires Gospel Singers for over 40 years, who recorded their CD entitled ‘I Found Jesus’. She later joined other quartet groups including the Wings of Joy and God’s Anointed. She is a 31-year cancer survivor. She was employed at Whirlpool and the Secretary of State. She served as a florist for weddings, proms, and other special events.

She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughters, Anita Joseph & Jalita Joseph, both of Lansing, MI; one son, Jamon Joseph of Benton Harbor, MI; one step-son, Julius Hickmon, Sr. of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Elosie (Herman) Hoskins of Chicago, IL & Rosie Murkey of Benton Harbor, MI; three step-sisters, Lisa (Carl) Varrie & Elaine Morris, both of Benton Harbor, MI, & Beverly Morris of Little Rock, AR; three brothers, Willie Blanks, Samuel Blanks, & Tony Blanks, all of Benton Harbor, MI; two step-mothers, Mary McAllister of Benton Harbor, MI & Augusta Blanks of Little Rock, AR; three aunts, Lula (Joe) Carpenter of Battle Creek, MI, Olivia Glass & Angelean Glass, both of Detroit, MI; one great uncle, George Blanks of Meridian, MS; three granddaughters, Ja’Miaa Joseph, JaMonica Joseph, & Ja’Leahha Joseph;  six grandsons, Ja’Quoi Griffin, Ja’Keeme Griffin, Henry Griffin, Jr., Jamon Hornes, Jaquan Hornes, & Jar’Vell Griffin; five great grandchildren, Kyndall McCaster, Aiden Griffin, Keon Griffin, Miley Curtis, & Mileya Curtis; two close friends, Eddie Mae Atkins and Joyce Rodgers; and a host of relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by: her parents, brothers Michael Blanks, Sr., Tyrone Blanks, and Carl Morris, Sr.
