Bernice Dismuke - Rodgers, 77 of Benton Harbor, Michigan heard the Lord say to her “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” as she crossed the finish line of this life and transitioned on March 18, 2018.Legacy farewell service will be held on March 28, 2018 Wednesday at New Bethel Baptist Church 2272 Townline Rd, Benton Harbor, MI 49022, with visitation starting at 10:00 am and services following at 11:00 am.

Bernice was born August 1, 1940 in Falcon, Arkansas where she lived until the age of 19; then she moved to Benton Harbor Michigan. She spent her life caring for her children, Deanna Robinson, Jacinda Anderson, Matthew Robinson (deceased), Melody Robinson, and adopted daughter Angel Nattee.

Bernice worked at Industrial Rubber in St. Joseph, Michigan, Helping Hands owned by the Fowlers in Benton Township for years until she established her own successful business that she maintained for 35 years. She had a passion for people that she expressed through the care she showed the adult foster residents and everyone she met. She was the most loving, caring, and giving person who had her own special relationship with everyone she met. Her number one relationship was with God! He was the leader in her life.

Bernice’s hobbies were cooking, sewing, gardening, bowling, upholstering, and traveling. Her all-time passion was fishing from sun up to sundown if possible.

Bernice took the hobbies she enjoyed and shared them with her grandchildren. She made sure to spend special time with each of her grandchildren, Eddie C. Anderson, Jasmine Gray, Timmy White, Orayn Anderson, Troy Anderson, Janiqua Allen, Tymel Robinson, and her 12 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters

Deanna Robinson, Jacinda Anderson, Melody Robinson, sister Carolyn Johnson, of Las Vegas, Nevada, brother Edwardo (Wilma) “Lee Lee” Dismuke of Houston, Texas, her cousins Beverly Dismuke, and Kenneth Dismuke, brother-in-law Mack(Lillie) Rodgers of Benton Harbor, Sister-in-law EvaNell Cannon  of Los Angeles CA, her adopted daughter Angel Nattee, her lifelong friends Ann Yates, Margie Griffen, a host of nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Maeone Williams, and Curtis Dismuke, her husband Charles Rodgers, brothers Autric Dismuke, Leotis Dismuke, her son Matthew Bruce Robinson ll, and Prentis Dismuke “Uncle”.
